As golfers we believe golf should not be a four letter word, it should be fun. We believe in Mulligans, Foot Wedges, Gimmies, Hand Wedges, Free Drops, Reloading, Breakfast and Lunch Balls, and any excuse to improve your lie. - NSG

Two Man Scramble Skins Contest
"Two Man" Scramble Skins Contest was won by a Three Man team - HUH? How can that possibly be? I guess having three balls are better than two.
And special thanks to Steve Parker for his Hospitality Bar and Gary LeClaire for supplying the fuel for the Bloody Mary.

Hot Summer Outing to Falcon Ridge, Mesquite, NV
NSG Outing at Falcon Ridge on July 8, 2024. Only these willing golfers decided to brave the 115 degree heat: Rocky Whitworth, Dave Lee, Ric Opheikens, John Haskell, Jimmy Reese, Tom Shaw, and photographer Mike Nakata.
Playing Golf in HOT weather
- Dress appropriately - cool, light-colored, lightweight moisture-wicking material, wide brimmed hat, sunscreen and sunglasses.Oops! They forgot their sunglasses.
- Seek shelter from the sun - look for shade, consider using an umbrella. Besides the air temperature, solar radiation heats your skin even more.
- Carry a cool, wet towel and use a bottle mister. They may or may not lower your body temperature but it sure feels nice. Your body responds best to cooling measures where the circulation is closest to the skin - wrist, elbow, armpits, knees, neck, scalp and face.
- Hydrate and not just with water. As you sweat, your body loses electrolytes (Sodium, Chloride, Potassium, Magnesium, Manganese, Calcium). You need to replace electrolyte losses. Your body can only absorb about 20-28 ounces of fluid per hour so try to drink that amount of electrolyte replacement drink - NOT just water (no, not beer also). Watch the ingredients of "Sports Drinks" because they may contain other additives like sugar, caffeine, and other stimulants. Again, beer is (arguably) NOT a sport drink. Drinking ice cold fluids will also lower your body temperature from the inside.
- Be aware of signs of Heat Exhaustion - extreme thirst, rapid breathing, faint/fast pulse, headache, dizziness, nausea, fatigue, blurred vision. Wildly missing a few golf shots may also indicated heat related problems. . . or not.
- Prepare for your golf day by maintaining your hydration a few days before the outing. We should normally drink half to three quarters of our weight in ounces per day. A 160 pound person should drink 80 to 120 ounces of water per day. That is 10 to 15 cups.

Don't Be That Guy - Golf Etiquette 101
As No Stress Golfers we like to enjoy the game of golf rather than work at the game of golf. We believe golf should be approached and played on an individual level, each golfer with their own skill set, expectations, and tolerances. However, without rules and expected etiquette, golf would be as unruly as Bull Riding, Base Jumping, and Hockey.
To this end, the USGA has a set of rules to keep the game honorable. Rule 1 has three parts:
1.1 states the player should "Play the course as they find it." and "Play the ball as it lies." Of course, there are exceptions.
1.2 states the player is expected to play in the spirit of the game by acting with integrity and showing consideration to others. There should be no exceptions.
1.3 states the player is responsible for complying with the rules of golf. Golf is the only game where competitors call rules infractions on themselves.
Respect For The Course
- Repair divots and ball marks
- Rake and repair bunkers
- Know golf cart etiquette and boundaries
- Respect golf course maintenance personnel - even though they just mowed your ball in half!
Respect For Fellow Golfers
- Honor the tradition of allowing each player the opportunity to execute a golf shot to the best of their ability. "QUIET, PLEASE!"
- Avoid being a distraction to playing partners
From The 10 Commandments of Golf Etiquette by Bill Purdin:
7. When Another Player is addressing the ball. There are only two things that every other player should be doing when a player is addressing the ball: standing absolutely still and watching the player hit. Movement is unacceptable. Talking is unacceptable. Fussing with equipment is unacceptable. Looking around is unacceptable. Stand still and watch the shot.
Maintaining Pace of Play
- Be ready when it's your turn to play
- Keep searching for lost balls to 3 minutes
- Watch where your ball and fellow golfer's ball goes
- Play ready golf. However, never on the tee box, step in front of a birdie or an eagle!
- Keep Mulligans to a minimum
Golf is an honorable game so let's play it with honor. Just make sure you respect the game, the course, and your fellow golfers.
-Next up: What's the best golf related trash talk you've heard?
