Welcome to No Stress Golf

We play on Mondays with Sunbrook and Southgate being "home" courses (e.g., 1st and 3rd Mondays).  The 2nd and 4th Mondays are played at other courses in the area in no particular order based on which course is available or is offering a special deal.  Typically about 30 players show up for each outing.  One week before each outing a Scheduler will email the players with the name of the course, date and tee time of the next event and ask who wants to play.  Reply to the Scheduler that you will/will not play.  The Scheduler will put the 4somes together and email the players with the groupings and tee times on the Friday before the Monday play date.  Show up at the appointed place and time and have fun.  NSG has no dues, fees or costs (other than green fees).

Just a little background:

No Stress Golf was started in 2012 by a guy who realized he no longer enjoyed golf because of the money aspect — he found himself hoping his fellow golfer missed a 3 foot putt because it would cost him a buck if he made it.  “That’s nuts!” he decided.

He put a notice in the Dixie Newcomers newsletter asking if anyone wanted to play golf just for fun.  No Stress.  The only rule would be no money changes hands at the end of the round.

Since then we have added several other rules related to stress-reducing golfing practices:  no religion; no politics; and more recently, pace of play.

Some of our guys scrupulously abide by the rules of golf; some do not.  Mulligans are ok, as are foot wedges and gimmees.  Just keep up with the pace of play.

Some players keep handicaps, some do not— keeping instead an “NSG” score.

However, this is not a loosey-goosey group.  We take our golf seriously, just not ourselves.

We have single digit handicappers and others who struggle to break 100.

The competition is with you against yourself and the golf course, not you against your playing partners.   When a member of your 4some makes a 20 footer for a birdie, you can sincerely congratulate him, rather than muttering under your breath “You lucky SOB”.

Occasionally we add some kind of a team competition like a 4 person scramble to an event to make it interesting.  These are low key and usually don’t involve prizes.  If prizes are included, they are pretty minimal.
