G's Final Round

Gerald Arthur Pare, age 79, died November 26, 2024, in his home in St. George, UT. He was born in Manchester, NH on March 27, 1945, to Arthur Pare and Loretta (Gervais) Pare. He married Denise Elaine Brown Pare in Manchester, NH on May 12, 1972. He left his wife of 52 years, Denise and his son, Karl David Pare of Missoula, MT.

He attended St. Augustine Elementary school and Bishop Bradley High School Class of 1963. He joined the Navy in 1963 and served in the submarine service on the USS Tinosa (SSN 606) New London, Conn. Upon completion of his service in the Navy, he entered St. Anselm College in Manchester, NH with a major in political science and philosophy. He then began his career in the insurance claims field. He worked in this field until he lived in Houston, TX where he attended South Texas College of Law and got a degree as a JD in 1988. He passed the bar and received his law license in May 1989. He began his practice as an attorney in Texas and continued practicing legal consultation work when he moved to Fairfield Glade, TN in 2008.

In the fall of 2017, they moved to St. George, UT where he loved the beautiful weather, his many golf friends, volunteering at the Pioneer Courthouse, and yoga at the Active Adult Center.

I particularly enjoyed golfing with G on Sunday mornings in a small group usually with Bill Brooks, Ken Zander, Sanjoy and Gary LeClaire.  It was a very casual group, G seemed more relaxed, we all usually kept our golf shots in the fairway, and he had less room to drive his golf cart around and around.  And around.  G once had an Eagle on the Par 4 dog-leg 7th hole, hitting his second shot with a 3-wood into the hole!

I had the honor of golfing with G in his final round on November 21st at Sky Mountain.  He was striking the ball exceptionally well,  we laughed a lot, and had a great time.  Golfing with G was always memorable.

G was supposed to golf on Monday, November 25th at Sunbrook Golf Course with the No Stress Golf group but because of a frost delay he decided to return home to spend time with his son, visiting from Montana.  Before G left, he made his way around chatting with as many golfers that he could.   We never realized how special that moment would be.

The No Stress Golf Group had a Memorial Tournament on Dec 30th at Southgate GC honoring and remembering our fellow golfer G. Pare.  It was called the Biscuit Tournament because that was G's favorite "cuss word".  After the round we all shared a few "G Stories" and agreed he will be missed.

Biscuit Trophy winners with a low team score of 61:

Tom Graves, Gary Midgley, Dave Lee, Tom Shaw

Free Mulligans were given out using G's favorite Golf Ball - The Kirkland Signature Premium Three Piece Golf Ball.
