Can the Tee You Use Add Yardage to Your Drive?

There are many different tees to choose from.  Could one of these add  precious yards to your drive or prevent you from hitting one OB?

Most are made of wood (some even Western Birch), some are made of bamboo, many are made of plastic.  Some have small heads, three prong, four prong, five prong heads.  Some have bristles, brushes, or cups.  Some have directional devices, magnets, and various markings.
The Flight Path Tee is robotically tested and adds a whole 2 yards to your drive, besides decreasing back and side spin and reducing friction.  It has a directional "pointing nose", an engineered diamond shape launch pad design, and a video on how to use it.  They cost about $2.25 each.  They claim to be USGA approved but the rule 6.2 states:  A Tee must not

  • be longer than 4 inches
  • be designed in any way to indicate the line of play
  • unduly influence the movement of the ball
  • otherwise assist the player in making his stroke or in his play

4 More Yards is what you are 100% Guaranteed.  It too is not only robotically tested but field tested as well.  It reduces friction and improves contact.  They also cost about $2.25 each.

The Brush T bristles provides less resistance on impact, allowing your drives to go farther and straighter.  They are $5.00 each but come with a ball marker and its own protective case.

If you are concerned about friction, the three pronged ZFT claims to have Zero Friction, adds 5 yards to your drive, may help with ball direction, and was the number 1 performance tee on the PGA Tour in 2005 with 70 Tour victories and 360 top ten finishes.  Each tee costs 52 cents - might be worth a try.

The Martini Tee promises longer, straighter drives proven by independent testing.  Because of the large cup, the tee can be tilted in different directions to help influence the ball flight.  It also has a step for the perfect, consistent teeing height.  It gets 4.8 stars by 3,340 raters on Amazon.  Cost for the genuine Martini brand is $1.80 per tee.  Beware of cheaper imitations!

The Hi-Ball Tee is similar but has notches in the cup to reduce friction.

The Stinger Golf Tee has a smaller head by 17.5% which gives it less resistance producing more ball speed, less spin, and increased distance, which means lowers scores.  It is also described on Amazon as unisex, adult, natural (made out of bamboo), and imported (from China).  Priced at only 59 cents each.

Tour Tee Pro is similar to the Callaway Par-Tee but has a smaller rubber head and tiny nubs on the top of the cup for added feel and to reduce spin for more distance and control.  Sounds like they may be describing something else other than a golf tee.  It promises to add 12 more yards at  $2.25 each.

This interesting gizmo will help "rectify" your hook or slice by 35%.  Please read the instructions carefully on how and where these should be inserted.  They cost $8.00 each.

This tee has a magnetic base which allows the top piece to break away on contact.  Do not fear of loosing it though because it is tethered to an anchor.  This is actually made in Hurricane, Utah.

The TelosTee has a movable disc to consistently keep the ball teed up the same height all the time.  If we could only swing the same all the time.  A deal at $3.00 per tee.

The Tornado Tee has a patented flexible crown (similar to a Chinese finer trap).  Are we allowed to say that?  It promises reduced spin and resistance and increased distance up to 12 yards!  Well worth the $5.00 each price tag.

To prevent losing those Tornado Tees, you can fix it to The Tee Claw which cost $6.00 each.

There is even a Tee for Ron Hollis.  The Nice Shot Middle Finger Tee.

NSG beer drinkers might enjoy these. (Above tees, not below) - Well maybe the tees below also.

These Tees may be quite distracting.  They are relatively inexpensive at 80 cents each.

For those willing to spend more there are these Perky Tees for $2.16 each.  Comes in blonde or redhead.

But why buy those when you can get the completely Naked Tees for only 50 cents each? A favorite of Tom Graves.

Some of you may remember when you had to form your own tees out of sand, and place your "feathery" on it, and hit it with your brassie.

Now you can just use the "Senior Tee" The 270% larger head assures your ball won't fall off and reduces back strain.  They actually sell these at the PGA Golf Store.

This is how Laura Davies tees up her ball.

There are seven pages of various golf tees on Amazon, and there are a few YouTube videos comparing various types of tees, but none are convincingly better than the old standard wooden tee which most all professional golfers use.

NSG Village People

Richard Wolfley, Greg Fischer, Steve Parker, Dave Waugh prepare for a hazardous round of golf.  They were being chased by Randy Sain, Dave Lee, Neil Fisher, and the notorious Ron Hollis.

Or... they may be trying out for a spot on the Village People.
